چکیده

Taking the standard zero curvature approach we derive an infinite set of inte-grable equations, which taken together form the negative Volterra hierarchy. The resulting equations turn out to be nonlocal, which is usual for the negative flows. However, in some cases the nonlocality can be eliminated. Studying the combined action of both positive (classical) and negative Volterra flows, i.e. considering the differential consequences of equations of the extended Volterra hierarchy, we deduce local equations which seem to be promising from the viewpoint of applications. The presented results give answers to some questions related to the classification of inte-grable differential-difference equations. We also obtain dark solitons of the negative Volterra hierarchy using an elementary approach.

Negative Volterra Flows and Mixed Volterra Flows and Their Infinitely Many Conservation Laws

In this article, by means of considering an isospectral operator equation which corresponds to the Volterra lattice, and constructing opportune time evolution problems with negative powers of spectral parameter, and using discrete zero curvature representation, negative Volterra flows are proposed. We also propose the mixed Volterra flows, which come from positive and negative volterra flows. F...

Convexity-preserving Flows of Totally Competitive Planar Lotka–volterra Equations and the Geometry of the Carrying Simplex

We show that the flow generated by the totally competitive planar Lotka–Volterra equations deforms the line connecting the two axial equilibria into convex or concave curves, and that these curves remain convex or concave for all subsequent time. We apply the observation to provide an alternative proof to that given by Tineo in 2001 that the carrying simplex, the globally attracting invariant m...

A Study of Tourism Dynamics in Three Italian Regions Using a Nonautonomous Integrable Lotka–Volterra Model

This article is a first application of an integrable nonautonomous Lotka-Volterra (LV) model to the study of tourism dynamics. In particular, we analyze the interaction in terms of touristic flows among three Italian regions. Confirming an hypothesis advanced by recent theoretical works, we find that these regions not only compete against each other, but at times they also proceed in mutualism....

Lattice Lotka - Volterra models and negative cross - di usion

Negative cross-diiusion has been identiied as a factor increasing the possibility of spatio-temporal instabilities in Lotka-Volterra equations. But such terms have been considered as quite rare in ecological modeling, since imply deceitful prey-predator relationships. We show that negative cross-diiusion appears naturally in reaction diiusion equations obtained using a simple mean eld decouplin...

Volterra’s realization of the KM-system

We construct a symplectic realization of the KM-system and obtain the higher order Poisson tensors and commuting flows via the use of a recursion operator. This is achieved by doubling the number of variables through Volterra’s coordinate transformation. An application of Oevel’s theorem yields master symmetries, invariants and deformation relations.
